Pukyong National University Holds Visiting 'Youth Maritime Humanities' Lecture Series
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Pukyong National University visits local elementary and middle schools to present students with fascinating stories of maritime humanities.
The Pukyong National University Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group will visit Busan Haegang Middle School and Haesong Elementary School on the 4th and 24th of this month to hold the "2022 Youth Maritime Humanities Lecture ? Tasting and Enjoying Maritime Humanities" program.
This program is an annual event organized by the HK+ Project Group to develop various connections between the sea, a distinctive feature of the Busan region, and the humanities, and to increase youth interest in humanities related to marine culture, marine life, and marine science.
Researchers affiliated with the project group, local marine and fisheries experts, and children's book authors will serve as lecturers, delivering talks on topics such as the shipbuilding industry, haenyeo (female divers), and tidal flats.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, the program was conducted in a non-face-to-face or scaled-down format, but this year it will return to an in-person visiting format.
On the 4th at Haegang Middle School, six lectures will be held: ▲The Heart of the Sea, Exploring the Shipbuilding Industry! ▲Stories of Busan Haenyeo ▲Save the Saunders’s Gull at the Nakdong River Estuary! ▲The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Marine Fisheries ▲Embedding Marine Culture and Humanities in Artificial Intelligence ▲UNESCO’s Embraced Korean Tidal Flats!
On the 24th at Haesong Elementary School, five lectures will be held: ▲Refugee Friends Who Came Through the Sea ▲The History of Trade, Busan Port, The Mother’s Embrace We Must Protect! ▲Where Did the Gray Whale Go? ▲A Shared Sea Journey ? Scuba Diving ▲Marine Observation Using Drones.
