Incheon Police Agency Conducts Intensive Crackdown on Online and Offline Prostitution... "Building Owners Also Booked for Aiding and Abetting"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 1st that it will conduct an intensive crackdown on sex trafficking offenders for eight weeks from the 2nd to the 24th of next month.
The crackdown will focus on online sex trafficking using sex trafficking brokerage sites or chat applications, as well as offline sex trafficking in entertainment establishments, massage parlors, and coffee shops.
The police have decided to intensively crack down after observing that offline sex trafficking establishments are operating in connection with online brokerage sites or chat apps following the lifting of social distancing regulations.
To prevent sex trafficking establishments from resuming operations, efforts will be concentrated on confiscation and seizure preservation before prosecution, as well as notifying the National Tax Service of taxable data to recover criminal proceeds.
Additionally, landlords of sex trafficking establishments that are raided will receive advisory notices, and if caught again, landlords will be booked on charges of aiding and abetting sex trafficking.

An official from the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "Sex trafficking has been flourishing both online and offline by taking advantage of the focus on cracking down on violations of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act at entertainment facilities," adding, "We plan to conduct strict crackdowns jointly with related organizations such as the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and local governments."
