The Jeonnam Provincial Party Election Commission of the Democratic Party announced on the 30th that among the three candidates Yoon Byung-tae, Lee Min-jun, and Choi Yong-seon, Yoon Byung-tae was selected as the final candidate after a fierce primary race.
Candidate Yoon Byung-tae said, "I sincerely thank the party members and citizens, and I also extend consolation and gratitude to the other three candidates and other preliminary candidates who participated," adding, "All candidates will join hands and work together for a new Naju."
He continued, "I believe today's decision is a solemn mandate to urgently resolve Naju's current issues and seize opportunities for development to leap forward as a prestigious city harmonizing tradition and modernity," and stated, "I will do my best to ensure that all Democratic Party candidates win in the June 1 local elections."
