The nine executive directors of domestic international film festivals read the “Joint Statement of Solidarity by Korean Filmmakers Opposing the Ukraine War.” They stated, "We mourn the noble deaths of Ukrainian filmmakers and hope that no further tragic news will follow. As filmmakers who engage and communicate globally, and on the occasion of the Jeonju Film Festival, we strongly oppose Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and call for an immediate peaceful resolution."
They continued, "The longer the war continues, the deeper the wounds grow, and the values of coexistence and symbiosis that humanity has built will be ruthlessly destroyed. We pray that authoritarian power does not degenerate into merciless atrocities against all humanity and hope for the democratization of Russia."
