USFK Permanently Closes Gate 13 at Yongsan Garrison, Expected to Be Used by Yoon for Commuting
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] It is expected that President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will use the Yongsan US military base entrance near Ichon Station when commuting to and from the office to be set up at the current Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building after his inauguration.
The commander of the Yongsan US military base, Colonel Ellis Baker, announced through a "Important Announcement" posted on his Facebook account that "Gate 13, the Ichon Gate, will be permanently closed from midnight on the 29th." Gate 13, located near Ichon Station, is classified as a main entrance.
This move by the US Forces Korea appears to be related to the relocation of the presidential office and the plan for the early return of the Yongsan base.
