Kim Jin-gon Appointed as New Secretary General of Gwangju Community Chest of Korea
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Former Secretary-General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, Kim Jin-gon, will assume the position of the new Secretary-General of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea as of May 1.
Since joining the Central Community Chest of Korea in 2003, Kim Jin-gon has served as the Head of the Northern Office of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, Planning and Fundraising Team Leader and Innovation Planning Team Leader at the Central Office, and Secretary-General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea. He has been recognized for his abilities through his distinctive gentle personality and leadership.
He has also taken the lead in addressing local welfare needs and issues by serving as a member of the Uijeongbu City Community Welfare Council Representative Committee and as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Social Security Committee.
Born in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, Kim graduated from Suncheon Hyochun High School and earned a degree in Social Welfare from the College of Social Sciences at Yonsei University. He also holds a master's degree in Social Welfare from the Graduate School of Public Administration at Yonsei University. Going forward, he will oversee all general affairs of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, including fundraising and distribution projects.
Secretary-General Kim stated, “After spending over 30 years in Seoul following high school, it is an honor to return to my hometown and take office as the Secretary-General of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea. I feel a heavy sense of responsibility and mission.” He promised, “We will transparently and fairly deliver the precious funds collected to places in our region that need help, and we will do our best to enhance welfare for our neighbors in need of care and the social welfare field, which has been more difficult than ever due to COVID-19.”
