The primary for the Gyeongnam Governor candidate included former Chairman Yang and current Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly member Shin Sang-hoon, and was held from the 24th to the 27th.
The Democratic Party's Central Election Commission reflected 50% of the safe number electorate and 50% of the party member electorate in the primary results, with former Chairman Yang receiving 50.07% support and Assembly member Shin receiving 49.93% support.
