UN Secretary-General Visiting Ukraine: "Security Council Fails to Do Its Best to Prevent War"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Ant?nio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General visiting Ukraine, criticized the UN Security Council for failing to do its best to stop the ongoing war.
According to AFP and other agencies, Secretary-General Guterres made these remarks on the 28th (local time) during a joint press conference after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
Guterres said, "The Security Council has failed to do everything to prevent and end this war," adding, "This failure has become a source of great disappointment, frustration, and anger."
He continued, addressing the people of Ukraine, "I want you to know that the world respects your determination and resilience," and emphasized, "Words of solidarity alone are not enough. I have come here to understand what is needed on the ground and to expand support."
