"Reducing Educational Gaps" ... Ulsan Office of Education Provides Integrated Customized Support for Causes of Basic Academic Underachievement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education's Basic Academic Skills Support Center is providing an integrated customized 'Umteo' project for students who have difficulty receiving adequate learning support within schools.
The Umteo project signifies nurturing dreams and hopes by strengthening the foundation of learning, just as a sprout emerges from the soil. It refers to the Basic Academic Skills Support Center's integrated customized support program.
Specifically, it operates through connections with specialized institutions for dyslexia and borderline intelligence, links with learning psychology and emotional support institutions, AI-based literacy improvement programs, one-on-one customized learning coaching programs, and experiential Umteo support programs.
From the 14th to the 22nd, the center selected 78 elementary school students who wished to receive support from the 'Umteo' project.
Selected students will undergo in-depth diagnosis of learning difficulties based on their homeroom teachers' opinions and receive personalized support.
The city education office formed an 'Integrated Customized Support Council' to diagnose various learning difficulties by target group and establish tailored support plans, holding the first meeting on the 28th.
The integrated customized council consists of a specialized institution linkage support team, a basic academic skills field support team, and an administrative integrated support team to ensure the most appropriate support for each student in need of learning assistance, appointing 12 members.
The members include experts in dyslexia and psychological-emotional fields, officials from related organizations, and field teachers to establish more professional and integrated support plans.
The council will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support and, after completion, analyze the degree of student improvement to decide on additional support if necessary.
