Gwangju Buk-gu and Gwiturrami Group Sign Agreement to Support Talent Development Scholarships
University and High School Students to Receive 50 Million Won in Regional Talent Development Scholarships
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 28th that it signed a scholarship support agreement with Kiturami Group (Chairman Choi Jinmin) for talent development.
Under the principle that educational opportunities should be equal, Kiturami Group established the Kiturami Cultural Foundation in 1985 and has provided a total of 28.5 billion KRW in scholarships to over 50,000 youths, including young heads of households, over 37 years.
According to the agreement, a total of 50 million KRW in scholarships will be provided to students in the Buk-gu area to support their studies and talent development, including 3 million KRW for university students and 1 million KRW for high school students.
Seo Sangwon, Head of Kyungwon Support Office at Kiturami Holdings, who attended the signing ceremony, said, "Through this agreement, we hope that young people will be guaranteed at least basic education and dream of a bright future," adding, "Kiturami Group will continue to strive for corporate social responsibility and giving back."
District Chief Moon said, "We express deep gratitude to Kiturami Group for their donation to our Buk-gu students," and added, "We will carry on this noble intention to discover outstanding talents and provide dreams and hope to students in difficult circumstances."
Meanwhile, Buk-gu established the Gwangju Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation in 2007 and has selected scholarship recipients in various fields such as underprivileged groups and social contribution, delivering a total of 1.941 billion KRW in scholarships to 2,116 students to date.
