BC Card Launches First Prepaid Point-Based 'Blackpink Check Card'
Financial Services Commission Designates Innovative Service... Paybook Money Rechargeable from 100,000 to 2,000,000 Won for Use
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] BC Card has introduced its first check card product based on prepaid electronic payment means (points).
BC Card announced on the 27th that it has launched the point-based 'Paybook Money BLACKPINK Check Card.' This product is the first check card issued by BC Card itself, characterized by the ability to make payments at online and offline merchants using only points without a financial transaction account.
BC Card previously received designation from the Financial Services Commission last month for its innovative financial service (point-based check card issuance service) to launch this product. Since it is a point-based check card, charging Paybook Money before use is essential. Paybook Money is a prepaid electronic payment means within BC Card's lifestyle financial platform 'Paybook,' and can be charged from a minimum of 10,000 KRW up to a maximum of 2,000,000 KRW. Charging methods include linking bank accounts, savings banks, and securities accounts under the user's name. It is also possible to set automatic charging of a fixed amount on a designated date each month.
This product also features customized benefits and designs for the MZ generation (born between 1980 and 2000). As a benefit, up to 10,000 KRW of Paybook Money is accumulated monthly based on card usage amount. Additionally, Paybook payments (including QR payments) online and offline offer 1% (up to 3,000 KRW), and sectors such as study rooms, bookstores, PC rooms, convenience stores, and fast food provide 0.5% (up to 5,000 KRW). Other sectors offer a basic 0.2% accumulation benefit.
The design was released in five types, including individual photos of each BLACKPINK member and BLACKPINK symbolic images, identical to the credit card launched last year. The difference from the existing credit card is that each is issued as a limited edition design. Applications are available through Paybook until July 18. Since it is a check card, applicants must be at least 14 years old, and it is issued for domestic use only. The annual fee is free.
