Gyeongbuk Province Supports Fresh College Students' New Start with 'Hope Recharge Scholarship'
30 Million Won Hope Points Provided to 10,000 Freshmen at 40 Universities in the Province
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongbuk Province will recruit recipients for the "University Freshman Hope Recharge Scholarship" starting from the 2nd of next month to boost customized learning motivation necessary for employment and academics for freshmen at local universities.
This project targets freshmen enrolled this year at universities (including junior colleges) located in Gyeongbuk. Applicants must have graduated from a high school in the province and have a registered address in Gyeongbuk as of the announcement date. Either the applicant or their parents must have resided in Gyeongbuk for more than one year to be eligible.
The application period is 26 days, from the 2nd to the 27th of next month, and applications can be submitted online via the Gyeongsangbuk-do Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute website.
After verifying eligibility, 10,000 applicants will be selected, and the final recipients will be announced in May.
The selected university freshmen will receive points worth 300,000 KRW, which can be used both online and offline at Daegu-Gyeongbuk lifelong education affiliated stores (Daegu 145, Gyeongbuk 87), for cultural and leisure activities (such as movie and performance viewing, participation in cultural events), and for self-development (such as academy courses and book purchases).
To use the points, the Hope Recharge Card can be issued by using the existing personal Nonghyup check card or by visiting a nearby affiliated bank (Nonghyup) to apply and receive the card.
Hong Seong-gu, Director of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, "We hope this will be a small help for university freshmen who confidently challenge themselves toward their dreams," and added, "We will continue to promote various scholarship projects that provide practical support to local talents."
