Gwangju City Holds the 10th Human Rights Art Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Metropolitan City is holding the "10th Human Rights Works Contest" to cultivate human rights awareness and spread a culture of respect for human rights.
The contest themes focus on the Gwangju Human Rights Charter and include reflecting on human rights violations and discrimination cases in our society and daily life, the image of a community living together without discrimination, spreading a culture of respect for human rights, and the theme of the 12th World Human Rights Cities Forum: climate crisis and human rights. The contest invites submissions in three categories: ▲creative writing such as slogans and essays ▲graphics such as drawings and photos ▲videos.
Participants include elementary, middle, and high school students, university students, the general public, and foreign residents interested in human rights, regardless of region. Entries can be submitted individually or as a team of up to three people. Submissions will be accepted via email from the 25th until June 24th.
The submitted works will be judged by a panel of experts in human rights and each contest category based on criteria such as human rights orientation, creativity, and potential for use in human rights education and promotion. A total of 14 works will be selected, including 1 grand prize, 3 excellence awards, 3 merit awards, and 7 encouragement awards. Winners will receive certificates from the mayor and prize money totaling 5 million KRW, including 1 million KRW for the grand prize.
The winning works will be announced on the city’s website in July and displayed at the 12th World Human Rights Cities Forum event held in October. They will also be used as educational and promotional materials to foster human rights sensitivity.
Detailed information can be found on the city’s website under public notices or on the city’s Democratic Human Rights Portal announcements.
