Dongshin University Selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 2022 1st Bio and Medical Technology Development Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dongshin University has been selected as the lead research institution in the next-generation applied omics field of the ‘2022 1st Bio·Medical Technology Development Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
According to Dongshin University on the 22nd, Professor Na Chang-su’s team from the College of Korean Medicine was recently selected for the Bio·Medical Technology Development Project with the project titled ‘Development of an ICT-integrated acupuncture treatment convergence system based on original technology for acupoint stimulation and diagnosis,’ receiving government funding of 13.92 billion KRW.
The research period is from April 2022 to December 2026, lasting 4 years and 9 months. Professor Na Chang-su is the principal investigator, and professors and PhD researchers from Kyung Hee University, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, Pukyong National University, and Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology are participating as joint researchers.
They will advance the development of original technologies for acupoint laser speckle pattern analysis (DSCA), deep stimulation invasive laser acupuncture, conductive microneedle acupuncture, electroacupuncture, vibration acupuncture, and other fusion stimulation methods for acupoint stimulation.
Additionally, they will develop a prototype of an ICT (big data·artificial intelligence) and augmented reality-based smart healthcare acupuncture treatment convergence system for acupoint stimulation and diagnosis, and will also pursue product approval procedures and commercialization strategies.
Through this, it is expected to contribute to ▲data-driven diagnostic and therapeutic environment changes for acupoint stimulation through the development of Korean medicine convergence systems ▲expansion of various treatment methods based on secured original technology for bio-regulatory acupoint stimulation ▲increased utilization of systems based on convergence technologies of Korean medicine, biomedical engineering, and biotechnology ▲industrial development and public health promotion through the commercialization of Korean medical devices.
