'Plogging' is a social contribution activity that combines the Swedish word "Plocka upp," meaning to pick up, and "Walking," involving walking in a designated area while picking up trash.
According to Walkerhill on the 22nd, the Walkerhill plogging campaign was held with the goal of contributing to the local community through environmental cleanup activities around Achasan and practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. The event, held from 10 a.m. on the 21st, was attended by Walkerhill Hotel CEO Hyun Mongju and other executives and employees, who started at the Walkerhill Achasan Gate and walked toward Achasan Ecological Park while picking up trash.
This year, Walkerhill has set 'eco-friendliness' and 'coexistence' as new growth engines, aiming to become the best 'eco-friendly hotel' in Korea. In January 2021, Walkerhill signed a memorandum of understanding with SK General Chemical Co., Ltd. as part of strengthening ESG management, expressing its commitment to actively introducing eco-friendly elements.
Additionally, in November last year, Walkerhill obtained the 'Environmental Label' certification, recognized as an eco-friendly facility by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment, solidifying its position as an eco-friendly hotel. It also became the first hotel in Korea to acquire the 'Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL)' certification and opened the country's first 'eco-friendly vegan room,' demonstrating its transition and innovation as an eco-friendly hotel.
