Jeju Fire Department Operates Future Firefighter Career Experience Class at Ohyeon Middle School
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Fire Station (Chief Ko Jae-woo) announced on the 11th that it recently operated a visiting Future Firefighter Career Experience Class for 120 students of Ohyeon Middle School.
The experience class, operated in collaboration between Jeju Fire Station and the Ministry of Education (Kkumgil), is a year-round program designed to help young people who will lead future society cultivate safety awareness and provide opportunities to explore careers, assisting them in planning their future paths.
On this day, the education was conducted in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines and included a special lecture on the future profession of firefighters, training on 119 emergency calls and fire evacuation procedures, and CPR education.
The students spent time not only observing but also directly experiencing the work of firefighters, fire equipment and vehicles, working conditions, and resolving their questions, thereby enhancing their understanding of the firefighter profession.
Applications for the career experience class can be made through the ‘Kkumgil’ website.
Chief Ko Jae-woo said, “Through the career experience program, students were able to properly understand firefighters and it greatly helped improve their safety culture awareness. We will continue to operate the program to provide good career experience opportunities for youth.”
