Jeongeup-si Opens 'Mireusaem Bridge' at Yongsanho... 5 Billion Won Invested
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The ‘Mirseam Bridge,’ a 642-meter-long bridge crossing the surface of Yongsanho Lake in Sinjeong-dong, Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk, has been opened.
According to the city on the 8th, Mirseam Bridge was constructed as a deck bridge over the water surface with a total length of 642m and a width of 2m, with a total project cost of 5 billion KRW.
The ‘Mirseam Bridge’ construction project is part of the tourism infrastructure development around Yongsanho Lake, being promoted together with the ‘Mirseam Fountain’ installation project to secure new tourism content and establish a base for stay-type tourism destinations.
Jeongeup City is focusing on creating a healing tourist attraction around Yongsanho Lake equipped with ecology, leisure, recreation, and landscaping facilities.
The city installed three sculptures painted with Jeongeup’s unique colors and an approximately 18-meter-high sculptural falling fountain at the center of Mirseam Bridge.
The three sculptures consist of a sphere (毬) combining maple leaves, Korean chrysanthemum (gujeolcho), and lavender; a spring (井) symbolizing ‘Jeongeup’; and a dragon (龍) representing Yongsanho Lake.
Additionally, nightscape lighting was installed to provide nighttime attractions, allowing anyone to walk comfortably day and night.
The city also plans to create a 2,300㎡ romantic sandy beach and a water-colored stage, and once all facilities are completed, it is expected to become a new landmark at the foot of Naejangsan Mountain.
Meanwhile, the Yongsanho Lake area boasts optimal tourism conditions where pristine nature with a mountain at the back and water in front coexists with the urban area.
It is home to the famous Naejangsan Golf Course and Ellistei Pool Villa, and the Naejangsan Resort development project, including the construction of the JB Financial Group Integrated Training Center, is underway.
The city plans to develop the Yongsanho Lake area into a rest and healing destination equipped with ecological, recreational, and leisure healing facilities by combining culture and experiential content.
A city official said, “We plan to make Yongsanho Lake a place that offers the greatest enjoyment to citizens and tourists visiting the area, as well as a spot where they can fully enjoy the leisure of a healing trip. We expect it to inject new vitality into the local economy through synergy effects linked with surrounding tourist resources.”
