President Moon Receives Report on Coast Guard Helicopter Accident...Mourning Fallen Officers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in received a report on the accident involving a Coast Guard helicopter that was dispatched to rescue a ship stranded off the coast of Taiwan and expressed deep condolences for the two Coast Guard officers who died in the line of duty.
Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated, "President Moon urged that all efforts be made for the swift search and rescue of the missing persons, that all available resources be mobilized to rescue our stranded citizens, and that close cooperation with the Taiwanese side be maintained."

Earlier, while a search operation was underway for the 'Gyoto 1-ho' vessel carrying six Koreans that went missing in Taiwanese waters, a helicopter belonging to the Aviation Unit of the Namhae Regional Coast Guard, which was en route at sea to search for the missing ship, crashed. Of the four crew members, two died, one is missing, and the remaining one was rescued and is in stable condition.
