[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] POSCO Flow and the Korea Shipping Association announced on the 8th that they signed a business agreement for mutual cooperation and sustainable co-growth between the two organizations at the Shipping Association in Yeouido, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Um Gidu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, among others.
According to POSCO Flow, Vice Minister Um expressed his welcome for the mutual cooperation agreement between the shipping industry and POSCO Flow for the development of maritime export-import logistics in his congratulatory speech. He also stated that the government will consider related support so that mutual cooperation and co-growth efforts can bear fruit for the development of the national economy.
The two organizations stated that, representing POSCO Group and the shipping industry respectively, they will present exemplary cases of mutual cooperation between shippers and carriers. They pledged to contribute to the development of national competitiveness by enhancing maritime transportation competitiveness. Practical mutual cooperation measures were also included in the agreement.
The agreement includes ▲ cooperation to provide the best transportation services based on expanding the use of national shipping companies ▲ consultation related to export-import cargo routing and cooperation to improve the loading rate of national ships ▲ efforts to comply with the Shipping Act and the Fair Trade Act and to conclude reasonable bidding contracts according to market conditions ▲ establishment and operation of a mutual cooperation council to strengthen maritime transportation competitiveness and activation of mutual exchanges.
