Gangneung-si Selected for 'Barrier-Free Tourism City Development'... The Only Local Government Nationwide
3 Years of Government Support Benefits Including Various Convenience Facilities and Auxiliary Transportation Means
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangneung City announced on the 8th that it has been finally selected for the "2022 Barrier-Free Tourism City Creation Contest Project" hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This project, which selects one city among local governments nationwide, is a policy that supports tourism cities possessing tourism resources and equipped with professional personnel and dedicated organizations capable of promoting the project.
With annual support over three years, this year Gangneung will receive tourism transportation professional consulting and a total of 1.5 billion KRW to secure "barrier-free themed tourist buses," "barrier-free tourism exclusive minivans," and "various convenience facilities and auxiliary transportation means for tourism vulnerable groups."
In the following two years, the city plans to improve barrier-free tourism infrastructure, establish information centers, and develop travel products to become a tourism city where visitors can enjoy without inconvenience.
