The attendees first emphasized the urgent need to maintain a firm security posture and manage the situation during the government transition period, and agreed to continue cooperating for a stable handover to the next administration.
They also analyzed North Korea's nuclear and missile-related activities, military trends, and policies toward South Korea and abroad, and decided to continue taking necessary countermeasures while maintaining a solid readiness posture based on the South Korea-U.S. alliance.
In particular, with the crab fishing season approaching, they closely reviewed the fishing activities of North Korean and Chinese vessels and related military trends in the waters near the Northern Limit Line in the West Sea, and agreed to make every effort to prevent accidental clashes and ensure the safe fishing activities of our fishermen under a firm alert posture.
They also expressed serious concern over the civilian massacre circumstances by Russian forces announced by the Ukrainian government.
