[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] On the 6th, Gogi-cheol, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, visited the Jeju East Police Station, which oversees public safety in the eastern region of Jeju City, and held a public safety field meeting attended by the station chief, department heads, and heads of police cooperation organizations.
According to the Jeju Police Agency on the 7th, during this meeting, discussions were held regarding the ‘Jungsangan 24-Hour Safety Police’ system, which aims to strengthen public safety by deploying personnel from the 1st Mobile Unit to mid-mountain villages located far from district police stations and patrol offices, thereby reducing crime prevention patrol and emergency response times.
An explanation of this system was provided, and feedback and opinions from residents through district police station and patrol office chiefs were heard. Given the positive response from residents, active operation of the system was encouraged.
Regarding voice phishing crimes, Chief Gogi-cheol ordered active analysis of cases where crimes were prevented and emphasized the importance of publicity, noting that most people avoid voice phishing through information promoted by various institutions. He urged proactive prevention publicity to residents about voice phishing.
After the meeting, he inspected the metropolitan detention center and urged staff to make special efforts to protect detainees' human rights and prevent various accidents.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the public safety field meeting was conducted with a minimum number of participants, and district police station and patrol office chiefs participated remotely via video connection, adhering to quarantine guidelines.
