The title of the paper is "Trend Analysis on the Digital Information Gap Phenomenon among the Elderly" (Hwang Hae-eun · Jeon Jeong-hwan) in the Journal of Industrial Innovation Research.
This paper is based on the term project completed while taking the Network lecture by Professor Jeon Jeong-hwan of the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering in the second semester of 2021, which was further developed into a published paper.
The paper notes that as administrative computerization accelerated due to COVID-19 and information technologies such as vaccine passes and kiosks became commonplace, the government implemented informatization education to alleviate information exclusion. However, the digital informatization level of vulnerable groups remained lowest among the elderly.
The digital information gap among the elderly remains a problem in everyday informatization, and the paper starts from this realistic awareness of the issue.
Regarding the digital information gap phenomenon among the elderly, the study collected Naver news articles spanning 26 years from 1996 to 2021 and utilized social network analysis software, one of the big data analysis techniques. It analyzed and visualized the relationships among key keywords related to the elderly information gap.
As a result, the 26 years of data on the elderly's information gap were categorized into five types: types of information gap experienced, support projects, support environments, social issues, and other problems.
In the analysis conducted in six quarters according to the National Informatization Basic Plan, keywords reflecting technological advancements and the era's circumstances were identified.
