Jeonbuk Province Hosts Startup Competition Utilizing Public Data
'Challenge and Public Data' Idea Planning, Product and Service Development in Two Fields
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 7th that it will hold the ‘2022 Jeollabuk-do Public Data Utilization Startup Competition’ to solve local community problems and discover and foster startup companies through creative ideas using public data.
This competition is co-hosted by Jeonbuk Technopark (Jeonbuk Digital Convergence Center) and four universities in the province (Jeonbuk National University, Wonkwang University, Jeonju University, Gunsan University).
The contest categories are ▲ ‘Challenge·Public Data’ Idea Planning ▲ Product and Service Development.
Among these, the idea planning category involves planning ideas to solve local community problems using public data, and the product and service development category involves developing products and services based on startup ideas utilizing public data.
Completed prototypes must be submitted by the application deadline.
Any Jeonbuk resident interested in public data can participate, and online applications are available through the pan-government competition website until July 6.
Jeonbuk Province plans to select 14 outstanding works on July 28 after the first document screening and the second presentation evaluation. Awards include the Jeollabuk-do Governor’s Award, the Jeonbuk Technopark President’s Award, the co-hosting universities’ project team leaders’ awards, and a total prize money of 14 million KRW.
Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Province has opened a list of 552 data sets on the Public Data Portal to provide and promote the use of public data, and was selected as an excellent institution in the 2021 Public Data Provision Operation Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
