Ranked 2nd globally in female-founded unicorn company size last year by global business information platform 'Crunchbase'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Market Kurly announced on the 7th that it has been named one of the 'Asia-Pacific High-Growth Companies' selected by the UK Financial Times for three consecutive years. It ranked 2nd in the world by company valuation among female-founded unicorn startups in 2021, according to the global business information platform 'Crunchbase.'
Last month, Kurly was ranked 23rd among the 'Asia-Pacific High-Growth Companies 2022' selected by the UK financial newspaper Financial Times and the global research firm Statista. The 'Asia-Pacific High-Growth Companies 2022' list evaluates 15,000 companies with revenues exceeding $100,000 in 2017 and $1 million in 2020, based on average annual growth rate, business model, profitability, and other factors, selecting 500 companies that have shown continuous growth over the past three years.
Kurly achieved an average annual growth rate of 173.5%, ranking 2nd among domestic companies following GoPizza (11th). It was recognized as the only company to remain within the top 30 for three consecutive years from 2020 to this year. Kurly ranked 18th in 2021 and 11th in 2020. During this period, Kurly's revenue increased 20-fold and its customer base grew 10-fold. Kurly emphasized, "Maintaining growth within the top 30 at this scale is unprecedented." Last year's revenue, which was not included in this ranking announcement, also increased by 64% compared to 2020.
According to recent data released by the global business information platform 'Crunchbase,' Kurly ranked 2nd globally in company valuation (approximately $3.3 billion) among female-founded unicorn startups in 2021. It was also the second most funded company among the 16 companies mentioned in the data. In December last year, Kurly secured a pre-IPO investment worth 250 billion KRW from Anchor Equity, valuing the company at 4 trillion KRW.
Meanwhile, Kurly CEO Seul-Ah Kim received the '15th EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Female Entrepreneur category)' selected by the global accounting consulting firm EY on the 6th.
