Busan City and Korea Data Center Association Sign MOU for Green Data Center Cluster Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City and the Korea Data Center Alliance are joining forces to create a green data center cluster.
On the 7th, the city will sign a business agreement with the Korea Data Center Alliance, a consortium of major domestic data center-related companies, regarding the creation of a green data center cluster and technology development.
The signing ceremony will be attended by Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, Kang Jung-hyeop, Chairman of the Korea Data Center Alliance, and Jung Moon-seop, Director of the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency.
The business agreement aims to foster the cloud industry by establishing an eco-friendly data center cluster in the Eco Delta City area of Gangseo-gu.
Busan City and the Korea Data Center Alliance plan to actively cooperate in ▲attracting data center companies ▲developing technologies for building green data centers ▲training specialized personnel for data center operations.
The Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency will support attracting domestic and international companies and revitalizing related industries based on its experience in establishing the Mieum Cloud Data Center pilot complex, the first of its kind in Korea in 2012.
Kang Jung-hyeop, Chairman of the Korea Data Center Alliance, said, “We will cooperate to ensure that the data center cluster in Eco Delta City becomes one of the leading examples of eco-friendly data center clusters.”
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “We are advancing as a leading cloud city by attracting data centers, cloud platforms, and MSP companies,” adding, “We will focus our efforts on cooperating with leading companies to foster local business growth as well as attract companies from outside the region.”
Busan City has attracted data center companies such as MS and LGCNS, cloud platform companies including Amazon Web Services, Douzone Bizon, Kakao Enterprise, and the top three domestic MSP (cloud management service) companies: Megazone Cloud, Bespin Global, and ClouXus.
