A Complex Cultural Space Beyond a Library... Busan Jungang Library Wins Group Award at the 54th Korea Library Awards
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Metropolitan Central Library has been selected as the winner in the group category of the ‘54th Korea Library Award’ organized by the Korean Library Association.
The ‘Korea Library Award’ is the most prestigious domestic award given annually to individuals or organizations with outstanding contributions to the development of library services.
Since its opening in April 1990, Busan Central Library has faithfully fulfilled its role not only as a place to read books but also as a complex cultural space.
The award recognized the library’s efforts in promoting reading culture, operating programs to understand Busan as a specialized library for Busan-related materials, and its cooperation with the local community.
It is also highly regarded for significantly contributing to library development by launching various new projects such as the book curation ‘Book Stories Delivered by Librarians,’ the exhibition ‘Bookcation with Books,’ the unique user-customized book recommendation service ‘Surprise! Targeted Taste Book Box,’ and the youth book play experience activity ‘Protect the Precious Books from the Thief!’
