The completion ceremony was attended by RomanSys Chairman Jang Jeongsik, Changwon Mayor Heo Seongmu, Gyeongsangnam-do Planning and Coordination Director Ha Jongmok, Hyundai Rotem CEO Lee Yongbae, RomanSys CEO Im Bongchae, and representatives from partner companies.
RomanSys, a major manufacturer of key parts for railway vehicles, a national core industry, started in 2012 as 'Kim & Jang Metal,' producing non-ferrous metals, and expanded its business into the railway vehicle sector in 2018, changing its company name accordingly.
Although entering as a latecomer in the complete railway vehicle manufacturing sector, RomanSys secured production technology and, with technical support from Hyundai Rotem, its partner, achieved results such as manufacturing locomotives for export to Bangladesh, trams for Poland, assembly and completion of NIF electric trains for Australia, and winning orders for Seoul Metro Line 9 electric trains since 2018.
In January 2021, RomanSys signed a large-scale investment agreement with Changwon Special City and Gyeongnam Province, involving an investment of 104.9 billion KRW and 702 new jobs, and proceeded with the establishment of a new railway vehicle production factory.
To strengthen its role as an outsourced production plant for Hyundai Rotem, a major supplier, and to improve business efficiency by securing a test track for running tests necessary for the shipment of completed railway vehicles and reducing logistics costs, RomanSys relocated its headquarters from Haman to Daewon-dong, Seongsan-gu in January 2022 and confirmed the investment in the new railway vehicle production factory.
An event was held to commemorate the relocation of the headquarters and the completion of the Changwon factory of Romansys, a company that signed an investment agreement with Changwon City, Gyeongnam.
