7th Ulju World Mountain Film Festival Competition Category Final Award Nominees Announced
Online Screening Available on Website for 3 Days Starting April 8
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The final nominees for the competitive section of the 7th Ulju World Mountain Film Festival have been announced.
Among the 30 films in the International Competition, five nominees have been selected for the Grand Prize as well as the awards in the Alpinism and Climbing, Adventure and Exploration, Nature and People categories, and the Jury Special Prize. From the 12 films in the Asia Competition, two nominees have been confirmed for the Netpac Award and the Youth Jury Special Prize.
The final nominees for the International Competition are ▲ "After Antartica" (directed by Tasha van Zandt), following the journey of polar explorer Will Steger ▲ "Faces of Longing" (directed by Hena Taylor), a story about members of the American climbing community who lost loved ones to climbing ▲ "Challenge: Stop or Go" (directed by Eric Crossland), depicting the friendship and passion of a ski mountaineer ▲ "When the Snow Melts" (directed by Aleksei Golofkov), a documentary about the bond between a mountain recluse and a city traveler ▲ "Mountain" (directed by York Oltar), a high-altitude travelogue of three mountaineers who met by chance.
The Asia Competition nominees are ▲ "If Not With Me" (directed by Park Jaehyun), which gained attention as an award-winning film at the Daegu Short Film Festival and Jeonju International Film Festival ▲ "In the Fire" (directed by Justin Crook and Luke Mazzapero), covering the tragedy of the Black Summer wildfires in Australia.
Except for "Challenge: Stop or Go," the six other nominated films will be available for viewing on the official website’s online screening room for three days starting April 8.
