LG Uplus announced on the 6th that it signed a ‘Solution Cooperation Agreement (MOU) for OTT Activation’ with Kinolights. The signing ceremony, held at the LG Uplus headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, was attended by Jung Soo-heon, Vice President and Head of the Consumer Division at LG Uplus, and Yang Jun-young, CEO of Kinolights.
Last month, LG Uplus, along with ‘Union Investment Partners,’ ‘Kakao Ventures,’ and ‘Shinhan Capital,’ made an equity investment of approximately 2.5 billion KRW in Kinolights. Of this, LG Uplus’s investment amounted to about 1 billion KRW. LG Uplus explained that the investment decision was made to enable easier access to its services amid the recent proliferation of various OTT platforms and the resulting vast amount of content.
Through this business agreement, LG Uplus plans to explore ways to enhance customer convenience by linking Kinolights’ solutions such as content recommendations and weekly rankings with its own services. Additionally, they intend to collaborate in various ways to further advance Kinolights’ solutions.
