COVID-19 Cases Reach 218,871 Nationwide by 6 PM... Up 16,042 from Previous Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] As of 6 PM on the 5th, nearly 220,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 6 PM on the same day, a total of 218,871 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
This is 16,042 more than the 202,829 cases recorded during the same time frame the previous day. However, compared to the 325,441 cases recorded at the same time one week ago on the 29th of last month, it is 106,570 fewer, and compared to 337,027 cases two weeks ago on the 22nd of last month, it is 118,156 fewer.
Since there is still time until midnight when the daily tally closes, the number of new cases announced on the 6th is expected to be higher than this.
As of 6 PM on the day, 105,769 new cases (48.3%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 113,102 new cases (51.7%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas.
