Formation and Meeting of Geumcheon Career and Academic Advisory Committee... Promotion of Career and Academic Support Project to 'Support the Growth of All Students' by Establishing Support Plans for the High School Credit System Implementation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) recently held the first meeting of the 'Geumcheon Career and Academic Advisory Committee' to improve the academic achievement of local students and support career and academic guidance that can nurture the potential and capabilities of all students.
The Geumcheon Career and Academic Advisory Committee was established to research and discuss the educational status of Geumcheon-gu through collaboration between the public, private, and academic sectors, aiming to create new trends in education in Geumcheon-gu. The committee includes two businesspeople, two professors, and three career and academic experts as external members.
The first meeting of the Geumcheon Career and Academic Advisory Committee was held with agenda items including ▲policy establishment and promotion related to the high school credit system ▲promotion of career support projects linked with companies ▲promotion of career support projects linked with universities. The members had a free discussion on the future direction of education that Geumcheon-gu should pursue.
Meanwhile, in June last year, Geumcheon-gu established the Geumcheon Career and Academic Support Center to build a system for 'career and academic counseling at any time.' Key initiatives last year included ▲career and academic counseling at any time ▲special fairs ▲admission briefings ▲parent academies ▲expert lectures ▲online lectures.
This year, to lay the foundation for supporting the high school credit system, which will be fully implemented in 2025, Geumcheon-gu has established a 'Support Plan for the Implementation of the High School Credit System.' The district plans to actively carry out career and academic support projects that support the growth of all students.
The 'Support Plan for the Implementation of the High School Credit System' includes various projects such as the 'Career and Academic Programs related to High School Credit System Support,' which offers creating personalized curricula, career and academic academies, and special lectures visiting schools; a 'Career Aptitude Test' for about 2,000 elementary, middle, and high school students; a 'Learning Coaching Program' that coaches students who have not reached the minimum academic achievement level; and other projects such as 'Career Support Projects linked with Excellent Universities' and 'Career Support Projects linked with Excellent Companies.'
