Hyundai Motor and Kia Achieve Solid Performance with 3.7% Decline in US Sales in Q1... Genesis Records 'All-Time High'

On the 2nd, Hyundai Motor Group announced that Hyundai Motor and Kia, including Genesis, sold 322,593 units in the U.S. in the first quarter, a 3.7% decrease compared to the same period last year. This performance was strong compared to other global automakers such as Toyota (-14.7%), GM (-20.4%), Stellantis (-13.6%), Honda (-23.2%), and Nissan-Mitsubishi (-27.5%).
In particular, Genesis recorded its best-ever first-quarter performance with 11,723 units sold, a 42.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
By model, Tucson led with 39,655 units sold. It was followed by Santa Fe (25,582 units) and Avante (20,272 units).
Hyundai Motor America (HMA) explained that local retail sales in the first quarter of this year increased by 1.4% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest first-quarter sales ever.

Kia sold 151,194 units in the first quarter, a 5.2% decrease compared to last year. The K3 was the best-selling model with 23,498 units, followed by Telluride (22,076 units) and Sorento (17,923 units).
