COVAX Cancels Entire COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation for North Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] It has been revealed that the international community has canceled the entire amount of COVID-19 vaccines allocated to North Korea this year.
Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on the 1st that a spokesperson for the international vaccine supply project 'COVAX Facility' stated, "Currently, COVAX has no specific amount of COVID-19 vaccines allocated to North Korea."
North Korea had been allocated 1,288,800 doses of AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccines and 252,000 doses of COVAX vaccines from COVAX this year.

However, since North Korea did not express willingness to accept the vaccines, the COVAX allocation was canceled in February, and now even the AZ vaccine allocation has been canceled. COVAX explained the reason for the cancellation, saying, "If North Korea does not introduce the allocated vaccines, the doses will be reallocated for use by other countries."
