Suncheon City to Pay Full 'Agricultural and Fishery Public Interest Allowance' Early This Year
Farmers and Fishermen to Receive 600,000 Won Starting Next Month 6th via 'Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificate'
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do, will make an early lump-sum payment of the public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen starting from the 6th of next month to support farmers and fishermen who are struggling due to COVID-19 and to help recover the real economy.
The public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen is provided at 600,000 KRW per farm household to improve the quality of life of farmers and fishermen, enhance the public and multifunctional roles of agriculture and fisheries, and promote sustainable development of rural areas.
The city plans to pay the full amount of 8.8 billion KRW to 14,704 eligible recipients this year, all in Suncheon Love Gift Certificates.
Recipients can collect the allowance starting from the 6th of next month by bringing their ID. Those in the dong area can visit the Suncheon branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation according to the 5-day rotation system based on their birth year, and those in eup, myeon areas, and Dosa-dong can collect it at their local agricultural cooperative on the designated date for each village.

A Suncheon city official stated, “We expect that the early lump-sum payment of the public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen in the first half of the year will revitalize the real economy, including small business owners who are struggling due to the consumption slump caused by COVID-19.”
