About 60 people attended the inauguration ceremony, including Jeong Hye-ran, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, Gong Chang-seop, Vice Chairman of the Changwon City Council, and heads of welfare-related organizations. The ceremony included the inauguration of President Lee Seong-bae, a report on the association's projects, and the appointment of executives.
Founded in October 2010, the Changwon City Social Workers Association operates under the Social Welfare Services Act with the goals of improving the welfare, treatment, and capacity building of social workers.
President Lee Seong-bae, who previously served as the 4th president in 2019, was inaugurated as the 5th president this time.
He stated, “We will create a happy community of social workers by enhancing the qualifications and rights of social workers in Changwon City.”
A city official said that efforts are being made to improve the treatment of welfare facility workers through social worker qualification allowances, household support allowances, support for continuing education expenses, capacity-building projects, burnout prevention programs, and social worker conferences.
Starting in March, a research survey on the actual conditions of welfare facility workers' treatment will begin, and a mid- to long-term plan to improve social workers' treatment will be established and implemented in the second half of the year.
