‘Low Carbon Building Support Center’ Opened at Seosomun Office... Providing Support Project Information, Application Consultation, and Product Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 29th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government signed a "Win-Win Cooperation Agreement for the Spread of Low-Carbon Buildings" with institutions, companies, and associations related to building remodeling at Seoul City Hall.
This agreement is part of Seoul's plan to convert one million low-carbon buildings announced in the comprehensive climate change response plan in January. It was prepared to create a social atmosphere where citizens can actively participate in the spread of low-carbon buildings by cooperating with institutions, companies, construction firms, and associations related to building remodeling, such as energy performance improvement.
Through this agreement, Seoul plans to promote building energy efficiency projects and analyze and provide the energy reduction effects of Seoul's projects carried out so far, strengthening publicity and marketing to encourage more citizens to participate in low-carbon building projects.
At the signing ceremony, the head of Seoul's Climate and Environment Headquarters, representatives from related institutions, insulation window and remodeling companies, and related associations attended. The attendees discussed cooperation plans for the spread of low-carbon buildings and signed the agreement. Representatives from related institutions such as the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, Korea Energy Agency, and Korea Energy Foundation; insulation window companies including Igeon Changho, Hyundai L&C, KCC, LX Hausys, and PNS Homes; building remodeling companies such as Kyungdong Housing, Ssangyong Construction, and Aju Design Group; and representatives from related associations including the Korea Window Association, Korea Flat Glass and Window Association, and Korea Franchise Industry Association attended.
Meanwhile, Seoul announced the opening of the "Low-Carbon Building Support Center" within the Climate Energy Information Center space located at the Seosomun Government Complex. The support center provides comprehensive information on building energy performance improvement projects, including Seoul's projects and support from other institutions. It also offers civil consultation services to assist with support project applications.
The support center offers diagnostic services for the energy performance of existing buildings and consulting services to improve the energy efficiency of houses or buildings. Citizens considering energy performance improvement construction for houses or buildings can receive consultations from architects or energy diagnosis experts through prior reservation.

Based on the consultation results, guidance on projects conducted by related institutions will also be provided to help citizens select support projects suitable for their circumstances. Yoo Yeon-sik, head of Seoul's Climate and Environment Headquarters, said, "Private sector cooperation is essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings, which account for 69% of Seoul's total greenhouse gas emissions. Going forward, Seoul will strive to reduce building greenhouse gas emissions through collaboration with companies and consultation services for Seoul citizens."
