Ministry of the Interior and Safety Expands Civilian Certificates Available on Public Websites to 11 Types
Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Hana Bank, and Dream Authentication Sign Agreement to Provide Simple Authentication
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The number of private certificates available on public websites has expanded to 11 types, providing citizens with a wider variety of authentication methods to choose from.
On the 28th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it has decided to add Hana Bank and Dream Authentication certificates to the private simple authentication applied on public websites, signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hana Bank and Dream Authentication.
This agreement follows the evaluation and recognition by the Ministry of Science and ICT that the authentication services of Hana Bank and Dream Authentication comply with the "Electronic Signature Authentication Business Operation Standards." The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Hana Bank, and Dream Authentication agreed to mutually cooperate to enable citizens to use simple authentication services on public websites more safely and conveniently.
Accordingly, the private simple authentication methods available on public websites, which were seven types including Kakao, KB Kookmin Bank, Naver, Samsung Pass (PASS), Shinhan Bank, Telecom Pass (PASS), and Payco until last year, will expand to 11 types this year with the addition of Toss, Bank Salad, Hana Bank, and Dream Authentication.
Meanwhile, following the abolition of the public certification system at the end of 2020, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is focusing on promoting the spread of private simple authentication in the public sector. This year, it plans to expand simple authentication to more than 110 public websites cumulatively, improving citizens' access to various digital government services more easily and conveniently. Additionally, in the second half of the year, it plans to enable the use of public websites such as Government24 through the mobile driver's license, which is currently being issued on a pilot basis (nationwide issuance starting in July).
