First Brigade-Level KTCT Training of the Year
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The first brigade-level bilateral training at the Army Combat Training Center (KCTC) is currently underway this year. KCTC is an advanced Army combat training ground equipped with cutting-edge facilities and equipment such as MILES, allowing engagement training in an environment similar to actual battlefields.
According to the Army on the 28th, this training involves the forces of two brigades under the 15th and 6th Infantry Divisions in the front line, conducted from the 21st to the 31st. During this training, from the 25th to the 28th, the two units will engage in high-intensity combat training without rest for four days and nights.
The brigade-level KCTC bilateral training, which applies the principle of free bilateral maneuver engagement, was first introduced by the Army last year with the purpose of providing more units with training opportunities that closely resemble real combat by involving two brigades in a single training session.
Starting this year, the Army has increased the frequency of brigade-level KCTC bilateral training from once a year to four times a year and is piloting the inclusion of rapid response divisions and regional defense divisions in addition to the standing divisions as training units. This training involves over 4,500 personnel and about 100 pieces of equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and attack helicopters.
