Both Black Boxes of Crashed Chinese Passenger Plane Recovered... Will the Cause of the Accident Be Revealed?
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The black boxes (automatic recording devices) of the China Eastern Airlines passenger plane that crashed on the 21st have all been recovered.
According to China Central (CC) TV and others on the 27th, the search team at the accident site discovered an orange tank about 1.5 meters underground on the eastern hill of the crash site at around 9:20 a.m. Experts explained that this orange tank is the second black box of the crashed passenger plane.
Accordingly, the black box found on this day is presumed to be the flight data recorder (FDR), which was the unrecovered black box among the two installed on the accident plane.
Chinese authorities plan to hold a press conference to explain the detailed situation.
Earlier, on the 23rd, one of the black boxes, the cockpit voice recorder (CVR), was found and is currently being read.
With both black boxes installed on the accident plane secured, the investigation into the cause of the sudden descent of the aircraft at the time of the accident and other causes is expected to gain momentum.
At a press conference the previous day, Chinese authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew on board the accident plane had died, and no traces of explosives were found in the wreckage of the accident plane.
