Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure at Ministry of Industry over Allegations of Personnel Misconduct in 탈원전 Policy
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office is conducting a search and seizure at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 25th in connection with allegations of misconduct during the personnel process for the nuclear phase-out policy.
On the morning of the same day, prosecutors sent investigators to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to seize digital data and documents from three departments, including the Operations Support Division.
It is known that the prosecution has been focusing its investigation on the possibility that undue pressure was exerted at nuclear-related public enterprises, leading to the resignation of certain personnel.

The Liberty Korea Party, the predecessor of the People Power Party, filed a complaint with the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office in January 2019 against four individuals, including former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Baek Woon-kyu, alleging abuse of power for creating a "blacklist" targeting heads of public institutions who opposed the nuclear phase-out policy and coercing them to submit their resignations.
