Repeated Criticism of Poor Early Voting Management
Resolution Submitted in the Names of All Affiliated Lawmakers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party has submitted a resolution to the National Assembly calling for the resignation of No Jeong-hee, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, who has been embroiled in controversy over the poor management of early voting in the presidential election.
Song Eon-seok, the senior deputy floor leader, and Kim Hyeong-dong, a member of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, submitted the resolution urging Chairperson No to resign to the National Assembly's legislative affairs office on the 25th.
In a phone interview with this outlet on the same day, Senior Deputy Floor Leader Song said, "Due to the poor management of early voting, the public's trust in the election itself has been lost," adding, "She must take responsibility and step down immediately." He also stated, "We will monitor whether (Chairperson No) resigns first and then decide on the party-level response."

The previous day, Kim Ki-hyeon, leader of the People Power Party, held a party meeting and said, "We will submit a resolution urging Chairperson No to resign in the name of all party members," pointing out, "Chairperson No, who degraded the last presidential election's early voting into a 'sokuri election' (basket election), thereby undermining the meaning of the election, is shamelessly holding on while preparing for the local elections." He continued, "She claims she did not go to work on early voting days because it was the weekend, denying responsibility for poor management, or perhaps she intends to stay until the local elections to assist the Democratic Party's election strategy, which is truly twisted."
