Oh Se-hoon to Hold 'Zero Waste Campus' MZ Talk with Youth on 26th... 20 Participants Including Young Activists
Collecting Ideas to Reduce Single-Use Waste
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 26th at 3 PM, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will hold an MZ Summit at DDP Seoul-On Studio to create a 'Zero Waste Campus' and gather innovative and creative ideas from young people to reduce single-use waste.
The summit will be attended by about 20 people, including Jeon Young-jae, Chairman of the Seoul University Presidents Forum (President of Konkuk University), Jang Yoon-geum, Chairwoman of the Korean Association of Women University Presidents (President of Sookmyung Women's University), university environmental clubs, and young environmental activists.
The Zero Waste Campus is a university model that comprehensively applies various types of zero waste practices promoted by Seoul City, such as the 'Zero Cafe' without disposable cups, the 'Zero Restaurant' using reusable delivery containers, and the 'Zero Market' that does not use disposable packaging. The project will be carried out by recruiting 20 universities. The goal is to spread zero waste culture centered on the MZ generation, who are highly interested in eco-friendly activities such as plogging and upcycling.
Mayor Oh will collect opinions on zero waste measures that universities can implement beyond the practical measures currently enforced by Seoul City through a sympathy talk session with young people. Prior to the MZ Summit, ideas for the 'Zero Campus' that were recruited and selected online will also be introduced. Then, all participants will read aloud the 'Zero Waste Action Declaration' and reaffirm their commitment to a carbon-neutral Seoul.
