Caddie Full Swing from 10m Behind... 50-Year-Old Indicted for Breaking Nose Bone
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] A man in his 50s who swung a golf club in front of a caddie and hit the caddie’s face with a golf ball has been prosecuted without detention.
According to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office Masan Branch on the 24th, Mr. A swung a golf club and hit a golf ball about 10 meters in front of a caddie assisting the game at a golf course in Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, on February 14 last year.
The golf ball struck the caddie’s face, breaking the nasal bone and causing injuries requiring four weeks of medical treatment.
At the time, it was understood that Mr. A swung the golf club while the ball he hit at the 8th hole had fallen into a hazard (a depression or pond within the golf course) and the caddie went to retrieve the ball.
Since the remaining distance to the green was as far as 150 meters, Mr. A made a ‘full swing’ without any warning.
Despite the caddie being seriously injured, Mr. A and his party requested a caddie replacement and completed all 18 holes before leaving.

A prosecution official said, “We judged Mr. A’s negligence to be serious and maintained the charges sent to the police as they were,” adding, “Serious negligence causing injury can result in imprisonment for up to five years, which is a harsher punishment than a fine for simple negligence causing injury.”
