On that day, former President Park was discharged from Samsung Seoul Hospital in Irwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, then paid respects at the burial site of her father, former President Park Chung-hee, and his wife at the National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, before moving to the private residence prepared in Dalseong-gun, Daegu. She said, "While I was president, I worked hard for the country and the people, but there are many dreams I could not achieve," adding, "I believe the dreams I could not fulfill are now the responsibility of others." President Park stated, "I intend to lend even my small strength so that good talents can achieve a leap forward for our hometown Daegu and further contribute to the development of the Republic of Korea."
Upon arriving at the private residence, former President Park said, "The past five years were very difficult for me to endure," and added, "Whenever it was hard, I endured by thinking about the day I would return to Dalseong, my political and emotional hometown."
She expressed her thoughts, saying, "After the pardon was decided, I was deeply moved when I saw news articles stating that if you come to Dalseong, you can spend a comfortable later life here, and I thought I am truly a happy person." She then introduced her political experience of becoming a four-term member of the National Assembly in this constituency since the 1998 by-election, adding, "I believe my footprints are surely left in the soil of Dalseong-gun."
Former President Park said, "From now on, as one of the people and a good neighbor, I will try to repay your support even a little," and added, "I am very happy and feel reassured to be able to live here with good people like you."
