KOSPI and KOSDAQ Gains Stall... Institutional Buying Continues
[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] On the afternoon of the 23rd, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ narrowed their gains and entered a pause. In the KOSPI market, institutions continue to be the sole net buyers.
As of 2 PM, the KOSPI is at 2,729.08, up 19.08 points (0.70%) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 2,727.12, up 17.12 points (0.63%), rose to the 2,740 level, then gave back some gains and is currently adjusting. By investor type, institutions are net buyers with 181.2 billion KRW. Meanwhile, individuals and foreigners are net sellers with 131.2 billion KRW and 54 billion KRW, respectively.
Samsung Electronics is trading up 0.14% at 70,400 KRW. Other gainers include ▲LG Energy Solution (1.76%) ▲Naver (NAVER) (1.03%) ▲Samsung Electronics Preferred (0.16%) ▲Hyundai Motor (0.86%) ▲LG Chem (3.05%) ▲Samsung SDI (1.96%). SK Hynix (-0.81%), Samsung Biologics (-0.48%), and Kakao (-0.94%) are slightly down.
By sector, Steel & Metals (3.50%), Banks (1.75%), and Insurance (1.58%) are rising, while Textiles & Apparel (-0.59%) are weak.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ is at 928.43, up 3.76 points (0.41%) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ opened at 929.35, up 4.68 points (0.51%), rose to the 930 level, but narrowed gains in the afternoon. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net buyers with 29.2 billion KRW and 19.8 billion KRW, respectively, while individuals are net sellers with 11.7 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 market cap stocks, 9 are rising. Technology-related stocks such as EcoPro BM (5.13%), Kakao Games (3.06%), and L&F (2.42%) show significant gains. Others rising include Celltrion Healthcare (0.15%), ▲Pearl Abyss (0.56%) ▲Celltrion Pharm (0.20%) ▲Wemade (0.19%) ▲Cheonbo (1.10%) ▲CJ ENM (0.52%). HLB (-2.16%) is the sole decliner.
By sector, Paper & Wood (3.81%), Metals (2.55%), and Software (2.24%) are up, while Medical & Precision Instruments (-0.68%) and Machinery & Equipment (-0.58%) are weak.
