[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Shinsegae Department Store's outdoor sales continue to soar. This is the result of an increase in young customers enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, along with a surge in related demand as the new school semester begins.
The 2030 generation, familiar with certification culture, increasingly enjoys hiking as if "stamp collecting." Many people boast about their hobbies by posting certification shots on social networking services (SNS) each time they visit a new mountain. Along with the ongoing camping and car camping craze since last year, interest in outdoor sports such as running and tennis has also grown.
Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 23rd that from the 1st to the 20th of this month, its outdoor sales increased by 35.1% compared to the same period last year.
Shinsegae plans to offer various online and offline contents for young customers who have emerged as major players in the outdoor genre. Until the 24th, the Hanam branch is offering special prices on Black Yak and Eider transitional season products. This event, prepared with discounts of up to 50%, can be found at the Welcome Stage on the 3rd floor of the Hanam branch. Representative products include the Black Yak B Airfly2 Jacket and Eider Trax Gore-Tex trekking shoes.
At the main branch, a Kolon popup store will open from next month. From the 8th to the 14th of next month, various new products will be showcased on the 1st floor stage of the main branch, and customers who make purchases will receive one of 200 limited eco bags. A promotion is also planned where customers who purchase two pairs of Move sneakers will receive a limited edition cap gift, available to the first 50 customers.
Representative products include unisex tech sneakers, camp sneakers, Venture hard coolers, and titanium teapots.
In response to camping demand, a special space has also been prepared. Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science has created a "Campnic Zone" to introduce related brands together. The Campnic Zone, located in the middle of the 4th-floor outdoor store, gathers brands such as Snow Peak, Fj?llr?ven, and Kodak, and provides various items for customers to experience and purchase directly.
An online event will also be held. From the 28th to April 3rd, SSG.com Shinsegae Department Store Mall will hold a sale with up to 40% off on Eider products. Representative products include Eider kids' 2-pack short-sleeve T-shirts and kids' short-sleeve T-shirt and pants sets.
