Hwasun-gun to Impose Fines for Electric Vehicle Charging Obstruction Starting Next Month
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun announced on the 22nd that starting next month, a fine of up to 200,000 KRW will be imposed for acts that obstruct charging in electric vehicle charging zones.
This is a measure in accordance with the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the "Act on the Development and Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Automobiles."
The county plans to operate a guidance period until the 31st to prevent confusion among residents and will focus on promoting awareness of acts that obstruct electric vehicle charging.
Acts that obstruct electric vehicle charging include ▲parking of general vehicles in charging zones ▲stacking items or parking in the vicinity or access roads of charging zones ▲deliberate damage to charging zone markings or charging facilities, etc. Violations will result in a fine of up to 200,000 KRW.
A fine will also be imposed if an electric vehicle remains parked beyond a certain time (1 hour for fast charging, 14 hours for slow charging), so special caution is required from electric vehicle owners.
The county plans to promote this mainly in apartment complexes through banners, warning signs, and leaflets.
A county official said, “We plan to focus promotion on apartments where charging stations are installed regarding acts that obstruct electric vehicle charging,” and added, “We will strive to establish a proper culture for the use of electric vehicle charging facilities.”
