Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin Meets President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol to Propose Adoption of Campaign Promises as National Policy Tasks
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the afternoon of the 21st, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin met with President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol and requested that Daegu's major pledges be adopted as national agenda items.
Immediately after the presidential election, President-elect Yoon expressed gratitude to the citizens of Daegu who showed overwhelming support, and during a phone call with Mayor Kwon, a meeting schedule was arranged, leading to the meeting on this day.
Mayor Kwon Young-jin requested support to have the President-elect's pledges for Daegu adopted as national agenda items by the new government.
The proposed agenda items for adoption include a total of 16 projects across 9 major fields, such as the "Early Construction of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport," "Establishment of a Digital Data Industry Hub City," "5+1 New Industry Promotion," creation of a cultural and arts hub, modernization of the textile dyeing complex, undergrounding of the urban section of the Dalbit High-Speed Railway, creation of an eco-friendly riverside cultural space along the Kumho River, diversification of water intake sources in the Nakdong River basin, and construction of the 2nd Daegu National Industrial Complex.
These are various tasks that need urgent resolution through government support, aimed at leading Daegu's leap forward and enhancing national competitiveness to the next level.
Following the meeting with President-elect Yoon, Mayor Kwon also visited each division of the Presidential Transition Committee to seek understanding and cooperation at the working level.
He held a separate meeting with Kim Byung-joon, Chairman of the Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development, which is drawing up the blueprint for the new government's national balanced development, and engaged in in-depth discussions on ways for the central and local governments to achieve co-growth.
Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "I will do my best to support areas where Daegu has competitiveness and can perform well, to ensure the new government succeeds and opens a new era of unity and prosperity."
