Seoul-Yangyang Expressway: 17 Vehicles Collide on Snowy Road... Over 10 Sustain Minor Injuries
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A pile-up accident occurred on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway due to snowy road conditions, injuring more than 10 people including drivers.
The accident happened on the 19th at 8:33 a.m. near the Seomyeon 6 Tunnel in Seomyeon, Yangyang County, at the 145.5 km mark toward Yangyang on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway. A total of 17 vehicles, including 5 cars, slid sequentially on the snowy road, causing a chain collision.
Four people, including an 8-year-old child, were injured in the accident. Additionally, six people, including a family of four riding in a Carnival passenger car, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

The police handling the accident secured one lane out of two around 10 a.m., about 1 hour and 30 minutes after the accident, and by 10:35 a.m., both lanes were reopened for normal traffic. There was heavy snowfall on the expressway during the morning.
